Camp NaNoWriMo!

So I haven't posted on here in forever. I'm thinking about doing Camp NaNoWriMo for just the first half (because I actually go to camp after that and won't have as much time to write once I'm there - read: ANY time). Perhaps I'll actually post stuff on here when I do that?
I haven't actually done a lot of writing in a while, so I'm kind of nervous about this.

GothNoWriMo

So I was introduced to GothNoWriMo earlier today and, on a whim, have decided I will attempt it.

I'm setting myself an easy goal of 15,000 to start with, and if it really feels too easy (aka I'm hitting 10k after less than a fortnight) then I will up the goal. But with college apps and the general insanity and sleep deprivation of senior year I'm trying to avoid running myself into the ground before first term ends. ^_^

With that in mind, I'm thinking of this as a sort of warm-up for NaNoWriMo in November. Maybe I'll actually pull it off again this year, around all my college apps. And won't I have killer bragging rights then? "Oh, what did you do your senior year of high school?" "I wrote a 50k word novel in 30 days, before even finishing all of my college apps."

Haha, that would be a hilarious way to introduce myself to a roommate.

Okay, fantasy over now.

Must do some planning/brainstorming/plotting for GothNo. Hopefully I will keep this old blog up to date for once!

(that's my form of a veiled apology about the year and a half of abandonment)

Script Frenzy Beginnings

Script Frenzy is upon us!
I think I'm going to end up doing two short stage plays, even though my sister really wants me to write a screenplay for her.
So far i've started one play, tenatively title "Movie House". It's set in a small cinema (converted from a theater), and basically the employees get trapped there overnight by a snow storm. I don't know exactly what is going to happen, but I'm kind of just letting it flow right now.
I'm not sure exactly what the second play will be -heck it might even end up as a short screenplay. But I'll see what I can do with "Movie House" first, and go from there.

Two Whole Months Already?!

I can't believe it's been more than two months since I last posted!
I have been busy though, so it's not like the time was wasted. I've written over 7500 words so far this year. And I'm going to start brainstorming about what I'm going to do for Script Frenzy because that's NEXT MONTH!
I know, I know, it seems so soon! So anyways, not much new stuff has been happening. I've become increasingly addicted to Stargate, discovered the show Six Feet Under, spent even more hours of my life in the Black Box at school.
And of course, the omnipresent Cecily, my muse, has guided me through over 7500 words in the last two months. That'll probably slow down again towards the end of this month, and then I'll have Script Frenzy going on, so all hell will be breaking loose.
I'll try and post an update once I figure out what I want to write for SF. And then I shall try and post progress updates over the course of April, depending on how crazy my schedule becomes.

New Years

Yes, yes I know it's just a little bit early to make my list of New Years' Resolutions, but I really felt like making the list now, so I can decide which ones I want to make a part of the 'Big, Fun, Scary Year' over at the NaNoWriMo website. The first 6 things on the list (of 11-so far!) had to do with writing. 2 with revisions, 2 with competitions, and 2 with more general writing goals.
1. Get through first full revision of Ascension and send/give copies to a few beta readers
2. Finish first full revision of Destiny’s Keeper, and decide whether to add more
3. Start rough draft of Reformation, the sequel to Ascension
4. Participate in and win my 4th NaNoWriMo
5. Participate in my 2nd Script Frenzy and not give up half way through
6. Write in my journal at least once a week

I think I might add another one just about writing a certain amount...basically my WriYear goal as a resolution.
Anyways, just thought I'd share these with you.
Hope they inspire you to do more of the same!

Going Wireless!

Happy holidays everyone!
I hope you are enjoying your respective breaks as much as I am enjoying mine, although I will admit I have not been the best at catching up on sleep. I keep staying up late visiting with my sister or, you guessed it, PLAYING ON MY NEW LAPTOP!
That was the excuse last night, actually. I found a version of 'Risk' to play online, so I was doing that till about 2 in the morning, because I can never get real people to play me, so I might as well play against a computer.
Anyways, just thought I'd post and let you know about the upgrade. This should make NaNo and writing stuff easier, because I won't have to sit in the dining room to write anymore. I can sit by the fireplace in the living room instead. Like I am doing now.

P.S. I just saw that I never told you my NaNo results. I finished about 8 minutes before midnight. I've since started re-reading the result, and must admit there are alot of things to be fixed. But none quite so massive as some of last year's Ascension issues. And at least it ended at a good breaking point.

NaNo Progress

So it is the 22nd day of NaNoWriMo, and I still don't even have 30,000 words written. I only passed the half-way mark last monday. The part of the novel I'm at is dragging slowly by, and I have no idea what is going to happen next. I wanted to post an update here, but I've been so busy trying and trying to catch up that I haven't had the time.
I can post a widget below so my wordcount can be displayed as I update it thru the rest of the month. I'll post again at the end of the months, and tell you how the last week goes.
